TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
Stegna and surroundings, thanks to the attractive location, the unique micro-climate and wonderful landscapes, turning into summer frequently visited holiday resorts. The greatest asset of the municipality are sandy beaches and rich amber band dunes covered with pine forests. Tourism is growing mainly in the area of the Vistula Spit, where lie four key village communes Stegna Junoszyno, Jantar and Mikoszewo.
The municipality offers ample opportunities to practicing water sports (sailing, canoeing, motorboating) not only by the proximity of the sea, but also due to appearing on the site of a dense network of rivers and navigable canals (about 50 km waterway). Floating on the waters of the municipality Stegna Szkarpawa such as rivers or river Vistula Royal, heading west can be a network of rivers and canals to swim to Berlin, and from there further into Europe. However, choosing course to the east, ie, in the direction of the Vistula Lagoon, steadfast sailors flow to Kaliningrad and beyond.
These waters are also a perfect place for fishing. Rivers and canals are rich in fish, is a paradise for anglers seeking adventure with white fish, and from May of predatory pike. Summer fishing enthusiasts float fishing and ground fishing lures carp lake in Jantar, and autumn trip to the big fish of the river Vistula. Anglers will find no problem even after seasonal accommodation in one of the agritourism farms, or all year round in the accommodation and centers.
Among the objects preserved in Stegna interesting are the wooden houses of the mid-nineteenth century. The most important monument of the village is the church of frame construction and the painted ceilings, built in the years 1681-1683. The equipment comes in part from the Baroque period. The advantage of the church are the organs that beautiful sound surpassed only by the authorities of St. Mary's Church in Gdańsk. In this instrument in the summer each year, concerts are held here during the International Organ Organ Festival.
The peculiarity of, Mikoszewo is primarily the space between the shaft in the area of ferry crossing over the Vistula ditch, filled with ancient paving stones and paved square. Next to abutments modern ferry crossing is here in the form of oblique rectangle pool old ferry crossing from 1895, now acting as a function of the small fishing port. Been preserved the old buildings associated with the operation of ferry crossing in the form of a brick building port facility, built of red brick grain, which now is a bar.
In Drewnica and Żuławki - former Mennonite villages separated by the river Szkarpawa - are a unique team of architectural monuments from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In the Drewnica is located windmill "koźlak" (1718), Dutch homesteads and old houses. In the Żuławki survived several arcaded houses and nearby villages until now works mighty Danzig head lock, which connects the Vistula River with the river Szkarpawa ending its run in the Vistula Lagoon.
In the nearby village Rybina worth a look are the two historical drawbridges and regarded as the world's only railway swing bridge. In the Stegna was the former narrow gauge railway junction on the route Gdańsk-Krynica Morska.
Near the village, Mikoszewo, at the estuary the Vistula River to the Baltic, is situated reserve "Seagull Hurst". It's a beautiful area, ponds varied and diverse vegetation, where their nests made many rare species of birds. There are colonies of seagulls, waders and Anseriformes birds, breeding colonies of terns. You can also find the white heron, black storks and cranes.
In the summer Stegna, Jantar and Mikoszewo offer holidaymakers a series of events, festivals, concerts, volleyball tournaments and football tournaments. In the Stegna, in July and August, organ concerts are taking place with the participation of prominent artists in the the International Organ Festival. Since 1999, in the Jantar organized World Cup Amber fishing. A great deal of interest in the National Meeting sailing. In the museum you can see the magnificent amber specimens and products from this material.
Through the municipality Stegna takes some interesting hiking trails, including Amber Trail (part of the International Road Pedestrian long-distance "E-9"), Blue Trail - Vistula river and, as well as the narrow gauge railway route (Zulawska Commuter Rail) and water routes led through by many rivers and canals to the Vistula Lagoon and the Vistula River.
